Emil Ruusuvuori is currently 61st in the ATP standings with his career-best ranking being two spots higher.

The 23-year-old has a 20-13 record for the season including 8-5 on clay court.

Ruusuvuori participated in the ATP Masters tournament in Rome last week as a lucky loser after losing to Sebastian Baez in the second qualifying match. Anyway, he got a chance to play in the main draw but lost in the opening round 6-4 and 6-4 to Cristian Garin.

Previously in Munich, Ruusuvuori went past Yohishito Nishioka and Maxime Cressy to lose in the third round to Holger Rune who went on to win the tournament.

Ruusuvuori’s best result this season came in February when he made it to the final match in Pune losing to Joao Sousa by 7-6, 4-6 and 6-1.

Benoit Paire is currently at no. 67 on the ATP rankings and has been as high as no. 18.

The Frenchman has finished the previous two seasons with losing records and things do not look well in the first part of this one either.

Paire is currently at 5-15 for the year with 2-8 record on clay.

He lost in the opening round in Rome, 7-5 and 6-2 to Dusan Lajovic.

He went through the qualifiers in Madrid just to lose to Diego Schwartzman in the first round by 6-2, 6-7 and 6-1.

His best result this season is the third round at the Australian Open where he lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas after defeating Grigor Dimitrov and Thiago Monteiro in the first two rounds.

Paire is a much more experienced player but his effort is always questionable. When he wants to give his best, Paire is a very dangerous opponent but we don’t know how his approach will be today. What we know is that Emil Ruusuvuori is on a rise and has been pretty confident in the previous two matches against the Frenchman. Paire may win a set in this one, but the Finnish player will take care of business and win by at least two games differential at the end.
