Baez is coming off a 6-3, 6-7 and 6-0 semifinal win over veteran Albert Ramos Vinollas. Previously, Baez needed three sets to go past Richard Gasquet and Marin Cilic after he defeated Joao Sousa in straight sets in the opening round

Last week in Barcelona, Baez lost in the opening round, 7-5 and 7-5 against Lorenzo Musetti.

His best result so far in the season is the final in Santiago where he lost to Pedro Martinez by 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4.
