Gaston is coming off back-to-back early exits from the tournaments in Phoenix where he lost to Kamil Majchrzak by 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 and in Indian Wells where he lost to John Jeffrey Wolf by 7-5 and 6-4.

The Frenchman managed to get to the second round in Marseille going past Cornetine Moutet in the first round and then losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas by 6-3 and 7-6.

Gaston also lost in the opening rounds in Montpellier, Sydney and the Australian Open.

Despite the slow start of the season, Gaston showed last year that he is a player who can find himself a spot among the top 30. At the Paris Masters, Gaston made it to the quarterfinals where he played pretty good, losing 7-6 and 6-4 to Daniil Medvedev. He made it to the finals on five challenger tournaments but failed to win any of them.

Emilio Nava is currently 312th in the world with his career-best being at no. 303.

The 20-year-old American has an 11-6 record in 2022 including a 2-2 record on hard surface.

Nava is coming to Miami after playing in the challenger in Phoenix where he lost in the third round to Benoit Paire by 7-5, 6-2. Previously he defeated Alex Bolt and Hugo Grenier.

In Indian Wells, Nava lost in the first qualifying round to Taro Daniel, 7-5, 7-5.

His best results this season were the round 16 stages in Forli and Cleveland.
