The 2021 AFL Grand Final are going to be contested arguably by the simplest two sides of the season because the Melbourne Demons combat the Western Bulldogs.
Although the Dogs had a form slump right at the top of the season, they did sit inside the highest two spots for the bulk of the year. they need shown their fighting spirit this finals series and are tipped to repeat their premiership feats of 2016.
- Western Bulldogs have won 3 of their last 4 matches against Melbourne Demons
- Western Bulldogs have won their last 4 matches as underdogs
- The underdog has covered the road in 14 of Melbourne Demons' last 19 matches
Team to Team stats
The Dogs have some recent dominance over the Demons with three wins from their last four matches, including their last clash in July this year by 20 points.
Melbourne had defeated the Dogs earlier within the season by 28 points.
Melbourne Demons Form
The Demons are the side of the season and are the deserved favourites heading into the Grand Final.
Melbourne finished the regular season as Minor Premiers and have won both finals games with ease.
They were a category above Brisbane Lions, kicking clutch goals when it counted within the Qualifying Final, and dominated against Geelong Cats within the Preliminary Final.
Melbourne Demons Team News
The only injury concern is Steven May after a touch hamstring niggle against Geelong Cats when he was substituted out of the match.
Western Bulldogs Form
They have had their justifiable share of knockers throughout the finals series (including me), but they keep arising with the products .
The Dogs beat Essendon within the Elimination Final and should have gotten lucky against the Brisbane Lions within the Semi-Final. But at the top of the day, a clutch goal from Bailey Smith showed us that he has what it takes to possibly take this side all the way.
It was just utter dominance from the get-go for the Bulldogs against Port Adelaide within the Preliminary Final, another game played against a volatile crowd which appeared to urge them on.
Western Bulldogs Team News
With no injury concerns last week, the Dogs have dilemma over who they have to drop from the Preliminary Final so as to bring back key defender Alex Keath and little forward Cody Weightman.
My Best Tip for the AFL Final is :
The little issue I even have is that come Grand Final day, the Demons will have played one match in 28 days. i'm an enormous believer in match fitness and therefore the Dogs make appeal therein respect.
The match will be close and i think is will be go over the 156 points line.
