With both of these sides really struggling for form this could be a scrappy game
Hawthorn have won three of their last five encounters with the Dons, but were beaten in their encounter last year in June by almost 20 points. With their injury list getting worse, and some big names playing for Hawthorn, it is hard to see them beating Essendon.
Essendon have been around the mark this season but have not been winning enough. With Daniher back in the side this week, this will make a monstrous difference to their forward line. Daniher is the best and one of the strongest forwards in the competition. It is hard to see Daniher having a blinder at his first game back, but if he can beat Essendon in the air when the ball comes forward, Essendon will be hard to stop.
Essendon will need to improve their forward pressure against the Hawks after failing to lay any tackles inside 50. Although Essendon hasn’t won a game for some time, I believe they’ll get the win in this one.
