Tottenham have picked up important wins at home in the Premier League. Southampton are short on confidence after a poor run of form, particularly away from home. 

Not entirely unexpectedly, Tottenham have fired Jose Mourinho after, to say the least, missing results. Their post-Mourinho time begins with a home game against Southampton in the Premier League. The feeling is that we will neither see a stronger nor weaker Tottenham team, at least for a start, so Southampton have a good chance to bounce back after the cup loss last against Leicester and pick up points, or at least score goals.

Tottenham sent clear signals when they got rid of Mourinho and his coaching staff just 6 days before the league cup final against Man City. Instead, 29-year-old Ryan Mason, the former Tottenham midfielder, is thrown into the heat. As Tottenham's problems are deep, especially in defense, it is far too short a time for him to fix something there. Going forward, however, it is a high class of players, even without team captain Harry Kane, who stepped off the field injured in the last race and is expected to miss a number of matches.

Southampton come into the match after being knocked out of the FA Cup semi-final by Leicester. It was a careful and uneventful event that they will put aside and put all the focus again on the league game. There, Southampton have mixed and given with losses against Man City, Brighton and West Brom as well as wins against Sheffield United and Burnley, in a very goal-rich matches overall. I expect that match picture again when they visit a Tottenham team, which is still out of balance.
