Ohio State’s cover issues are tipped to continue against Toledo. The Buckeyes are expected to win this game comfortably, but the Rockets are no pushovers.
They have a run game that can chew clock and a solid defense, so we are backing them with the points.
Toledo Form
Toledo head into their biggest game of the season with a perfect 2-0 record.
The Rockets opened the 2022 season with a 37-0 shutout win against LIU, and backed that up with another blowout win last weekend.
They put up 28 unanswered points in the first half and never looked back as they beat Massachusetts 55-10.
DeQuan Finn finished the game 12/26 for 177 yards and a touchdown, and also led the team in rushing with 74 yards and two scores.
Peny Boone also had two scores on the ground, while Jerjuan Newton led the team in receiving with 106 yards off four receptions.
QB Finn is now 33/54 for 378 yards, three TDs and a pick, while on the ground he has rushed for a team-leading 138 yards and three scores through two games.
Newton is the team’s receiving leader with 160 yards and a touchdown off eight grabs.
Ohio State Form
Ohio State have slipped slightly in the rankings since the start of the season, but they are a perfect 2-0.
The Buckeyes began the season with a 21-10 victory over #5 Notre Dame that saw the offense falter early on.
They were much convincing winners a week later though, blowing out Arkansas State 45-12 to stay perfect.
CJ Stroud went 16/24 for 351 yards and four touchdowns, with Marvin Harrison Jr his best target.
Harrison had 184 yards receiving, as well as three TDs, while Emeka Egbuka had 118 yards and a score.
On the ground, TreVeyon Henderson rushed for 87 yards and two TDs off 10 carries, while Miyan Williams carried the ball eight times for 46 yards.
Stroud’s performance at QB continued a solid start to the season that has seen him go 40/58 for 574 yards and six TDs.
Harrison Jr and Egbuka have combined for 448 yards and five touchdowns in the passing game.
Running back Henderson has 178 rushing yards and two TDs through two games, with Williams putting up 143 yards from scrimmage and a score.
On defense, the Buckeyes have allowed just 22 points so far, but they are yet to produce a turnover.
