Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will settle the score once and for all when they meet October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for Fury's WBC and lineal heavyweight titles.

The third fight between heavyweight rivals Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder was originally set to take place on July 24 but has been moved to later in the year after Fury contacted Covid-19 in the beginning of July.

US reports say that Tyson Fury and "at least 10" members of his team have tested positive for Covid-19 meaning his WBC heavyweight title defense against Deontay Wilder had to be pushed back from its July 24 date.

“I wanted nothing more than to smash the ‘Big Dosser’ on July 24, but I guess the beating will have to wait,” Fury said. “Make no mistake, I will be back and better than ever. We will fight Oct. 9, and I will knock him spark out!”

With Wilder behind in the series at 0-1-1, he'll get an opportunity to tie things up should he emerge victorious.

“This is what we went to arbitration for,” said Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s manager. “He just wanted what was owed to him. He remains ready to reclaim his world title on Oct. 9.’’

This autumn’s bout, being billed as “Once and For All” is set to be the conclusion of the pair’s longstanding feud, which dates back to their first contest back in 2018.

Fury’s last clash against Wilder saw the 32-year-old dominate his American opponent, flooring him down twice before the referee halted proceedings in the seventh round.

Despite that defeat, there’s still an opportunity for 6’7” Wilder to level the scores, after their pulsating 2018 clash in Los Angeles was ruled a draw.

The first clash saw Alabama’s Wilder take down Fury twice, though the second knockdown saw the two-time world heavyweight champion stage a remarkable 12th round recovery that had many calling for a Gypsy King win.

Neither Fury, aged 32, nor Wilder, 35, have returned to the ring since their second fight in February 2019.

A hotly anticipated unification showdown in Saudi Arabia between Fury and Anthony Joshua, who holds the IBF, WBA and WBO belts, was undone when Wilder’s contractual right to a third fight was upheld in an arbitration hearing.

Joshua is set to defend his world titles against Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk in London on 25 September, two weeks before his heavyweight rivals do battle in the US.

Wilder has made wholesale changes to his team - he has sacked Mark Breland, the trainer who threw in the towel to end the second fight with Fury. He has appointed former opponent Malik Scott as his new trainer, meaning Jay Deas has been demoted.

Fury may enjoy the trash talk that seemingly comes as part of the sport now, but he can certainly back it up. Fury’s record stands at 30 wins, 21 KOs, one draw and zero defeats.

Despite failing to get the better of his opponent in their previous bouts, former WBC heavyweight Wilder still has an excellent ring record, winning 42 fights, drawing one and losing one, whilst he has 41 KO’s to his name.
