Details:
Despite numerous cancellations, there is a very promising fight card at UFC Fight Night 201 this weekend. In addition to the main event between Walker vs Hill, eight other fighters in four different weight classes will compete on the main card of the upcoming UFC event.
Almost two years ago, Johnny Walker was named heir to the throne of Jon Jones. In the meantime, however, the tide has turned for the hyped Brazilian, after all Walker gambled away any momentum at the UFC with three defeats in the last four fights.
With his unorthodox fighting style, Walker is nonetheless one of the crowd favorites in MMA. The Brazilian has repeatedly provided special knockouts in the past, including the impressive win over Ryan Spann.
The most recent performance against compatriot Thiago Santos was therefore all the more disappointing. After all, Johnny Walker disappointed enormously in the fight against Santos and hardly set any accents over five rounds. After a point decision, Walker finally lost.
Is the Walker hype over for good?
Walker lost a pro fight for the sixth time in his current MMA career. Walker suffered three of the four losses at the UFC, where Walker is 5-3 in eight fights.
The Brazilian celebrated four of the five victories after an impressive knockout. Only once has the UFC light heavyweight ranked tenth won by points decision.
Because Walker posed little danger against Santos recently, the assessment of the UFC betting providers at UFC Vegas 48 is understandable.
After all, Jamahal Hill is one of the most dangerous standing fighters in the weight class. It is therefore all the more important for Walker to effectively exploit his size and range advantage over his opponent.
Risky advances are to be avoided, after all, Hill has the necessary punching power to send Walker onto the boards.
Jamahal Hill will dress in a UFC main event for the first time in his current career this weekend. So far, the American has largely flown under the radar, but Hill is not a blank slate for die-hard MMA fans.
In his current career, "Sweet Dreams" Hill has been the light heavyweight champion of the "KOP" organization.
Hill has been under contract with the UFC since July 2019 and has already completed six fights.
Hill won five of the six fights, only against Paul Craig there was a surprising defeat after a blitz knockout in the first round. His victory against Abreu was also disallowed after a positive marijuana test and given an "NC" (No Contest).
Walker vs Hill: Prediction & Betting Odds
Because Walker is still one of the crowd favorites of the UFC even after the most recent series of bankruptcies, an extension of the current contract is obvious even in the event of another defeat.
Especially since the fight against Hill, an up-and-coming light heavyweight, is not a sure-fire success anyway.
The American is currently in the fast lane and has only allowed himself one misstep with the UFC so far. "Sweet Dreams" has only been caged once since losing to Craig, which surprisingly left Hill with the lights out.
In his fight almost two months ago, the 30-year-old defeated Jimmy Crute with a first-round knockout and even picked up the award for the best performance of UFC Fight Night.
Key facts about Walker vs Hill - UFC tip
Jamahal Hill now wants to deliver the next spectacle against Johnny Walker and thus pass the Brazilian in the ranking of the light heavyweights.
Because of this we go for Hills to win fight in a K.O.
Because Walker has made a bad impression in his recent fights, we tend to see no alternative to winning market bets.
Not only is Hill in better shape, but he has a clear advantage in standing combat - at least from a technical point of view - over Walker, who, with his unorthodox fighting style, already enters the cage with an "all or nothing" mentality.
We rule out a five-round fight at the headliner of UFC Fight Night 201. It is probably only a matter of time before the cage judge ends the fight between the two light heavyweights prematurely.
