MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates - Cincinnati Reds
- Title : MLB: Pittsburgh Pirates - Cincinnati Reds
Summary:
We have a National League Central five-game series this weekend and this weekend meeting could give a lift to the fourth place Cincinnati Reds and last-place Pittsburgh Pirates. My focus will be Saturday’s game three and prior to Saturday, the boys have a seven-inning doubleheader to deal with first. This could be a good series as just four games separate Cincinnati and Pittsburgh in the standings.

Both offenses are in the bottom third in baseball in runs scored and of the two, Cincinnati has the more powerful offense.
This is a tough one because we have a Friday night doubleheader and we have zero ideas on how many pitchers each team used for the first two games of this series. What we do know is we have two struggling starting pitchers with WHIP numbers north of 1.50 and two pitchers with good to very good strikeout rates up against offenses with high strikeout rates. The Reds offense is much better and I suspect it will be that offense that rules the day. I will take the Reds to beat the Pirates in this contest.
We’ll see some strikeouts for sure from Williams and DeSclafani but these two also have high walk rates alongside high home run rates. The WHIP numbers for both starters are well below average and I suspect we could see ten runs in this game
Prediction: Cincinnati Reds win
