In his debut boxing match in August 2017, McGregor was defeated by Floyd Mayweather Jr, but it appears that the 'Notorious' one is not giving up and is focused on fighting Manny Pacquiao.

Conor McGregor confirmed that the talks between all the parties are intensifying and that a date for the bout is yet to be fixed. He also said that he is planning to have “some good discussions” with Dana White, who’s not on-board with the idea. The UFC president earlier revealed that he has no interest in seeing McGregor vs Pacquiao in 2021.

While Conor McGregor, Manny Pacquiao and their manager Audi Attar are confident that the boxing bout will happen later this year, the UFC president wants McGregor to focus on MMA.

McGregor’s desire to box again may have been further encouraged by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, who recently stated that the Notorious One could fight for the title if he defeats a top WBC contender. However, if McGregor somehow defeats Pacquiao, he won’t be getting a WBC title shot, considering the two will be colliding in an exhibition bout and The Pac Man is the current WBA super welterweight champion. McGregor would have to fight someone else in the WBC top 15 list after Pacquiao to win a title shot.

Pacquiao will turn 43 this year and he looks at the McGregor fight as an opportunity for one last huge check.

Conor McGregor stands alone as the most reliable pay-per-view cash-cow and, having watched Mayweather ride off into the sunset with the easiest $300 million he ever earned, Pacquiao wants to do something similar.

When Pacquiao signed another managerial contract with McGregor's talent agent Audie Attar, the founder of Paradigm SM, it appeared to put them both on a collision course for a bout that could generate $250 million.

Reports have suggested McGregor vs Pacquiao could take place in the Middle East but a potential date has not been revealed.
