The UEFA European Football Championship for the year 2021 has already started. It is commonly known as the “Euro,” and this competition is held every four years. However, as the COVID-19 pandemic hit the whole world during the first trimester of 2020 and became even stronger in the following months, the tournament had to be postponed.

The tournament was scheduled to begin on June 11, where the group stages begin. On the other hand, the Euro cup final will happen on July 11, and it will be celebrated at Wembley Stadium.

As per usual, there will be twenty-four teams disputing the trophy throughout the month. Also, eleven cities across Europe will serve as hosts.

Euro 2021 – Schedules

The schedule of the Euro 2021 has already made public. Here you will find all the important dates (not about specific matches) you should keep an eye on during the season.

  • For starters, the Group Stage will start on June 11 and will finish twelve days later, on June 23.
  • Next up, there is the Round of 16. This stage will begin three days later after the group stage is finished, on June 26. It will only last another three days, as it is scheduled to finish on June 29.
  • Quarterfinals will begin three days after the round of 16 is over, on July 6. This stage will finish on July 7!
  • As mentioned above, the grand final will be held at the Wembley Stadium. It is scheduled to happen on Sunday, July 11.

It’s very unlikely for the schedule to suffer changes thanks to the new health advancements that have been made in the fight against COVID-19, although everything is possible and you should always lookout for any possible changes. This post will be updated as new information is revealed, so we recommend staying tuned!

Favorites

In 2016, Portugal won the championship. During that season, France was the selected host country, and now the French team is the overall favorite for the competition. Followed by them, we have Belgium, England and Italy, team that won the opening match.

Top goalscorer

There are three main favorites for the top goalscorer. According to multiple sportsbooks, the players that are most likely to be breakout stars in the Euro 2020 are the following:

  • From England, there is Harry Kane, whose odds are +600.
  • Tied with Kane, there is Romelu Lukaku from Belgium, with +600.
  • Last but not least, there is Kylian Mbappe, from France. His odds remain at +850.

Special markets

As with any other football or competition, there are special markets available for the Euro 2020. These bets are often exclusive to these tournaments, and therefore, are only accessible during that season.

For instance, as of now, it is possible to bet for the group winners, the outright winner, and the top goalscorer, as mentioned above.  You can also bet for the teams you believe will qualify past the quarterfinals or semi-finals, too. These bets are also known as “props.”
